questioning my sanity
08.07.2026 by nickremember when I said I was taking a break after releasing clueless? it had 3 worlds with 6 levels each, which bothered me so much that I expanded it to 5 worlds. "but THEN I will take a break."
spoiler, I didn't. I decided 10 worlds just felt more satisfying, but after finishing the german version, the scale of what I started finally hit me. german alone had 825 questions, meaning I still had another at least 460 to go to bring english on par for a massive 1650 total.
after questioning my sanity day after day, it is finally done. writing all these questions was exhausting, but oddly satisfying, and now I am actually, truly taking that break.
while the german and english levels share themes, the questions themselves are completely unique. if you are bilingual, you get a fresh experience in both languages since I didn't just translate the content, except for a few universal pop culture references.
juggling both versions turned into a massive deep dive. researching everyday phrases and local charts was a trip, especially realizing how differently pop culture hits. some actors are known for totally different things in germany versus the US, and some references just do not cross over at all.
I for one had absolutely no idea the virginia "for lovers" slogan was a thing. I was just trying to bring in some general knowledge and US states, so I started googling what they are actually known for. finding out peaches are kind of a big deal in georgia, or that virginia is apparently "for lovers" was quite the journey. researching this stuff felt like playing a game itself since I stumbled into so many new phrases and english slang along the way.
because it was such an experimental, hands on process, I just hope the quality feels consistent. it was incredibly tiring, but seeing it all come together makes it worth it. if you find any typos, you know where to find me.
until next time! <3
